Why Feminism is Ruining our Country: A response to a response →

ghost-plot:

gaypip-boy3ooo:

In this country almost 50% of domestic abuse is on the woman’s behalf, however, that is never mentioned. Or if it is mentioned the man is made fun of; this is fully and completely because of the blatant discrimination feminism so casually presents. I will present you with a true story, it is then up to you to decide whether feminism is or is not destructive.

A woman finds out her husband is cheating on her. While he is sleeping she cuts his penis off. She gets an insufficient amount of jail time considering the fact she committed manslaughter.

Eventually the mainstream media gets a hold of this story and, in it’s usual fashion, comments. There is a show on television, in the early afternoon daytime slot which is called “The Talk”; it is, essentially, a fake “View” where six women come on the air, sit around a table and “talk” about things which matter to women. They began speaking about this issue. Sharron Osborne, the oldest, most mature of the group, began making jokes about this poor man. She found it absolutely hysterical (excuse the irony/foreshadowing) that this man had his penis cut off by his wife. Furthermore she thought the wife was absolutely justified.

So here’s the situation: A man has his penis chopped off, arguably one of the most precious things in a man’s life, and is then made fun of by Sharron Osborne on national television. Sara Gilbert then brought up a good point which I thought of as soon as I heard of the story. She said basically said, if a man were to cut his wife’s breasts off, or extract her clitoris, America would be up-in-arms.

And this is where feminism, as a social movement, fails. Feminists are only here for the betterment of their gender while the degradation of men is perfectly acceptable. I feel like gender equality is a far better movement than placing women at a higher standard than men.

Yes, domestic abuse is pretty equally split. Feminism does not condone domestic abuse in any sense by anyone. We are not fighting to have it so men can be ridiculed if they are victims of abuse. We are fighting to have it so a man can report it and get the help he needs. Women did not set the standard that men can’t be victims of domestic abuse. Women did not make it so that men are in the position they are today. That’s a result of the gender binaries that have been constructed, the same ones feminists are trying to break down.

Unless a man dies because his penis was cut off, it’s not manslaughter.

Also, why is a penis the most precious thing in a man’s life? A vagina or breasts are not the most precious thing in a woman’s life (they can be, but I wouldn’t generalize to say it is the most important thing for women.) Why is a penis, an organ, the most important thing to a man? Because society has dictated that it’s the main thing that separates a man from a woman, which from some men’s point of view, is very important.

What are the worst insults you can use for a man? You can call him a ‘pussy’ or tell him to ‘man up.’ You call him a woman. That’s the insult that hurts men the most. That’s what feminists fight against. We don’t want to be the insult anymore. We don’t want the penis to be this worthy trophy. Is a woman who cuts off a penis as retribution for him cheating on her justified? I don’t know.

I do know that the standard of having a penis equating to being ‘better’ is disgusting. I do know that the standard of worshiping a penis (or considering it a ‘most prized possession’) is disgusting. I do know that all of the standards that work against men, have resulted from men. Men made the standard that it’s not ok to admit to being weaker than a woman. Men ridicule each other as much if not more when they’re ‘weak.’ Men are the ones hurting themselves far more than women. Our culture, which has arisen out of centuries of male domination and control, is what makes it so that a man who is a victim of domestic abuse can’t report it.

Don’t blame feminism. I don’t think you really get what feminism is or the history of misogyny or patriarchy (not insulting, just a thought). Feminism, as a whole, is fighting against everything you said here. Some feminists aren’t, of course. There are plenty of feminists who would love to have a matriarchal society. Are they wrong? Maybe not. What would be wrong with having a matriarchal society? Men, as a whole, do have control and power. So why couldn’t women ever get their chance to have that? Just food for thought. But most feminists really do want equality for all genders.

I have a true story for you as well to help demonstrate my point that it’s not women’s fault men won’t seek help for domestic abuse. I had six male clients who admitted to being abused (verbally and physically) by their female partners. They disclosed this to me in private sessions. When I tried to talk to them about forming a support group, every single one of them said they’d never admit in front of another guy that they were abused. They knew they were safe with me (a feminist and a woman), but expected ridicule from men, even from other abuse victims. I did have one man agree to join a domestic abuse victims group I had going, but it was all women (after getting consent from all the women in the group in private sessions so they didn’t feel pressured.) He was never ridiculed in that group, not once. He was able to get support he needed.

Firstly, I believe you misunderstood the reason I wrote this article. I wrote it to make it perfectly clear the discrimination which feminism presents. Feminists feel like women should be held far and above men. This inadvertently degrades men, through the elevation of women to a superior being. I had absolutely no issue with feminism as a civil rights issue but now that women are granted the same rights as men, and in some cases more (which i will describe soon), I feel like it’s turning into a crusade against men. I only take exception when feminists, even you, say that men are the problem. I have a problem with feminists in that they feel like they are the true superiors; any man who resents feminism is a sexist and rapist while any woman who isn’t a feminist is a slave to the patriarchy.I don’t believe there really is a patriarchy, at least not in America. This is why: The adoption and child services laws in the US are built around protecting the woman. So a mother, who is addicted to drugs, spending her money the wrong way, and neglecting her child emotionally will keep her child if the father wishes to take it. Women are given full control over their child even though it isn’t entirely her doing. A man must pay child support even if he never wanted the child, yet it was the woman’s choice and only her’s to have the child (these are isolated, hypothetical cases and not sweeping generalizations). Men are constantly shafted when it comes to their children. Furthermore, women can commit a crime, which a man has committed, and get significantly lower time in jail. Mary Kay Letourneau molested a 13 year-old boy. She wasn’t seen as a monster and she didn’t receive as much jail time as a man would. If a man committed the same act, however, he would be considered the criminal of the century.Women are given a whole stock of rights which men are not. So if the government truly was a male driven machine and if it truly was a patriarchy, why would these laws be in place?

You say that feminists are working toward gender equality but that simply isn’t true. Feminists are only interested in the rights of women, not men. Besides if you are working toward gender equality, you wouldn’t be called a feminist but a “gender-equilist” (excuse the neologism).

Now let me make the statement about the penis perfectly clear. I didn’t mean that as a generalization, as shown by the “arguably”. The only reason I would consider it one of the most important thing in a man’s life is because I, unlike many people, believe that and testicles are precisely what make a man a man, not his actions or morals. So if a man looses this he is: 1. degraded and 2. Stripped of his sexual organ.

I must say, I feel like it is utterly repulsive that you think the woman is, even in the slightest, justified for doing this to her husband. At it’s very base, Feminism indulges sexism.
